N3B Awarded Two-Year Contract Extension by DOE for Ongoing Legacy Cleanup
LOS ALAMOS, N.M. — Newport News Nuclear BWXT-Los Alamos, LLC (N3B) has received a two-year extension from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for its contract to perform legacy cleanup activities at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).
DOE has exercised the second, and final, option period in N3B’s contract, which will retain N3B as the legacy cleanup contractor at LANL through April of 2028.
“We are appreciative of the confidence DOE has shown N3B by exercising this contract option,” N3B President and General Manager Brad Smith said. “We look forward to continuing to safely and effectively perform the important cleanup underway at LANL for the benefit of the residents of northern New Mexico.”
N3B has served as the LANL legacy cleanup contractor since 2018. To date, N3B has made significant progress in protecting water supplies, cleaning up contaminated soils and safely dispositioning radioactive and other wastes off-site. Learn more about N3B’s cleanup accomplishments at www.n3b-la.com.
